Tern Sidekick Joyride Bars Gen 3

The Sidekick Joyride Bars are seatpost-mounted handhold bars with a U-shaped (backswept) design that brings the grips closer to the passenger — letting big kids and adults sit further back on the rear rack while still holding on comfortably. Paired with the Captain’s Chair Gen 2 or Sidekick Seat Pad, they create a secure, semi-enclosed passenger spot — somewhere to hold on, somewhere to lean, and a frame that makes the rear feel like a place to sit rather than a place to balance.

The Gen 3 update brings improved ergonomic grips and broader seatpost compatibility (30.9–34.9 mm). Paired with the Captain’s Chair, the bars also double as a frame for carrying a crate or box on cargo-only runs. One thing to know: a lower saddle height may affect usability for the passenger, since the bars mount to the seatpost — if the saddle is set very low, the handhold may sit too low to be comfortable.

Compatible with the Tern GSD, Tern HSD, Quick Haul and Quick Haul Long and Short Haul. Also part of taller weather-protection setups, where the bars can support the Storm Shield Gen 3 or Storm Shield Mini Gen 2 with the Captain’s Chair, for riders approximately 170–190 cm tall.
