Brompton Electric G Line

The Electric G Line is the Brompton for longer journeys. Twenty-inch wheels and hydraulic disc brakes give it the ride of a full-size bike, with up to 90 km of e-Motiq assistance on a charge. And at the end of the ride it folds, like every Brompton, small enough to come inside.

At a glance

Everything a daily bike needs is already on it. Mudguards for the weather, a front light wired into the system, an Advanced Roller Frame for wheeling the folded bike, and a 1.5-litre essentials bag for the small things. The larger wheels soften broken tarmac and unpaved paths, the hydraulic disc brakes stay consistent in the rain, and the aluminium fork carries mounting points for racks and cages. Three frame sizes chosen simply by height; from 19.5 kg with the battery, 15.7 kg without.

Who it's for

This is the Brompton for the commute that doesn't end at the office. Ride further than you used to, take the towpath because it's nicer than the main road, load the front luggage on a Friday and leave the city for the weekend. Wherever the day goes, it still finishes with a fold and a seat on the train. If you keep to smooth streets and the smallest fold matters more than bigger wheels, the Electric C Line will suit you better.

Build & technology

Brompton engineered the e-Motiq system in-house. A torque sensor measures how hard you're pedalling and the rear hub motor matches its assistance to your effort. The 345 Wh battery charges from empty in five hours, or to 80% in four, and the 4-speed gearing spans a 160% range — enough for the hills you've been avoiding. The controller updates through the app and learns your riding to sharpen its range predictions, the whole system is certified to UL2849, and when you arrive, the rear wheel flips under and the bike stands on its own.

FAQs

What terrain can the Electric G Line handle?

Asphalt, gravel paths, towpaths and well-maintained off-road routes. The 20-inch wheels and hydraulic disc brakes let it cope with rougher ground than the 16-inch models, and it still folds like any Brompton.

How is it different from the 16-inch Electric Bromptons?

The G Line is the bigger Brompton: 20-inch wheels where the others have 16, hydraulic disc brakes, its own geometry and three frame sizes. It rides with more assurance on rough ground, and the fold, though larger, works the same way. For the tightest storage, the Electric C Line and Electric P Line remain the more compact choices.

Which size do I need?

The Electric G Line comes in three sizes, Small, Medium and Large, chosen by your height. Brompton developed the sizing with a bike-fit specialist. If you're between sizes, book an appointment and we'll set up both so you can ride them back to back.

How do I order or test ride one at Flying Dutchman?

We order Bromptons in on request. Send an enquiry from this page or book an appointment at our Camden, Notting Hill or Hackney shop — we'll confirm your frame size, colour and lead time when we take the order. Every e-bike we sell includes a free first service at 500 km. See the full Brompton range.
