Veloe Multi Power

The Veloe Multi Power is the acoustic version of Veloe’s compact Italian cargo bike — the same carrying capability without the motor, for people who want it under their own steam. At 18 kg it’s light to handle and easy to live with, configured to order with Shimano Nexus gearing, a chain or Gates belt, and your choice of colour.

Who it’s for

The Multi Power is for people who want Veloe’s carrying capability without a motor — keen cyclists who want the exercise, anyone on shorter or flatter routes, and people who’d rather have a lighter, simpler bike with less to maintain. Without the motor and battery it weighs around 18 kg, so it’s easy to lift up a step, wheel through a doorway and live with day to day, while still carrying one or two children and the shopping on its 67 cm rack, up to a 200 kg load.

It’s the same compact Italian frame as the electric Multi — so if you want assistance for hills, longer distances or heavier, more regular loads, that’s the version to look at, and the Multi Lungo is the longtail when you need to carry more. The Multi Power is the one to choose when you’d rather do the work yourself.

Build & technology

Every Multi Power is built on the same powder-coated chromoly steel frame as the electric Multi, with a fixed rear rack, designed and assembled in Italy. There’s no motor or battery to fit, which keeps the weight down to around 18 kg and means less to maintain and nothing to charge — just a well-made cargo bike you pedal yourself.

Gearing is hub-based and configurable: Shimano Nexus 8 with a conventional chain, or Shimano Nexus 5 with a Gates Carbon Drive belt. The belt runs cleaner and needs no oiling; the chain keeps the cost down. Hydraulic disc brakes give confident stopping with a loaded bike.

The rest is the Multi’s familiar setup for carrying: 24″ wheels on double-wall MACH1 rims, wide Schwalbe Big Ben tyres for comfort over rough roads, a 67 cm rear rack that takes MIK-mounted seats, baskets and racks, and the 33 cm heavy cargo kickstand to hold it steady while you load. Total length is 180 cm, the maximum load is 200 kg including the rider, and the frame carries a lifetime warranty. It comes in orange, brilliant blue, reseda green, grey or black, or any custom RAL shade.
