The Delite5 is R&M's all-terrain benchmark — the full-suspension e-bike that does not ask you to choose between the daily commute and a serious ride at the weekend. Riese & Müller Control Technology gives it 120mm of travel at the front and 110mm at the rear (Fox AWL 34 fork, Fox Float Rhythm shock), so London's potholes, kerbs and tracks all disappear beneath you. It is built on R&M's multi-drive frame platform, which means you can have it with the Bosch Performance Line CX or the sealed Pinion MGU gearbox in the same frame. An 800Wh battery in the down tube keeps the range serious and the weight low, and the co-sprung rear carrier moves with the suspension, so loaded panniers stay settled. It is, in R&M's own terms, the bike they stopped at nothing to build.

The Delite5 is for someone who wants one bike to do everything — commute through the week, cover real distance at the weekend, and handle a rough track without a second thought. It suits people who value comfort and control over outright lightness, and who would rather have full suspension than wish they did the first time the road turns bad. The Pinion variants particularly suit anyone who wants to take mechanical maintenance out of the equation entirely. If you have ever ridden a front-suspension commuter and wondered whether suspension front and rear is worth it, the Delite5 is the bike that answers the question — and most people who ride one feel the difference immediately.

Build & technology

The defining feature is Control Technology: a front fork and an active rear swing arm giving 120mm and 110mm of travel, with a co-sprung luggage carrier that keeps cargo composed over rough ground. The multi-drive platform takes either the Bosch Performance Line CX — Gen 5, on the Bosch Smart System, with up to 100Nm of torque — or the Pinion MGU E1.12, a 12-speed gearbox and motor sealed into a single unit at the crank with virtually no maintenance. Drivetrain choices run Touring (derailleur), Vario (Enviolo hub, Gates belt), Rohloff E-14 and Pinion, with High Speed (45km/h) versions where permitted. The 800Wh PowerTube is removable, and a Bosch PowerMore range extender adds capacity for longer days. The frame is built with around 38% recycled aluminium, a dropper seatpost makes mounting a tall bike easier, and a Supernova headlight with main beam and brake light keeps you visible. Optional Bosch eBike ABS (Bosch drives only) adds wet-weather braking control, and the integrated RX Chip brings GPS tracking and a digital alarm, with the first year of ConnectRide included.

Both — that is the point of it. The full suspension, 800Wh battery and Control Technology chassis make it composed and comfortable on a daily London commute, while the same setup handles rough tracks and longer weekend rides without complaint. It is the R&M for people who do not want two bikes.

The frame, suspension, and motor platform are shared. The Superdelite5 adds a second battery — a 1,200Wh DualBattery system versus the Delite5's single 800Wh — for people who want maximum range for touring or charge-free weeks of commuting. If range is your priority, the Superdelite5. If you want the same capability in a lighter, simpler package, the Delite5. We are happy to talk through which makes sense for your mileage.

Both are excellent and the right answer depends on how you ride. The Bosch Performance Line CX is the most widely serviced drive in the industry, connected through the Bosch Smart System and available with eBike ABS. The Pinion MGU seals motor and 12-speed gearbox into one unit at the crank — exceptionally low maintenance, very quiet, beautifully balanced. They share the frame platform, suspension and motor options. The Delite5 has a conventional diamond frame; the Homage5 has a low step-through frame for easier mounting and a more upright riding position. If you prefer a sportier diamond frame, the Delite5.
