The Cruiser2 Mixte is R&M's most characterful city bike — a step-through with a retro Dutch aesthetic, leather-look detailing, tan-wall tyres and a frame bag that conceals a 545Wh battery as naturally as it completes the look. We have one remaining: Cream, 50cm frame. It is a genuinely distinctive bike, and this is the last one.

Who it’s for

The Cruiser2 Mixte is for anyone for whom design is not an afterthought — riders who value character over a spec sheet and would rather ride something beautiful than something with the highest torque figure. The low step-through frame makes it genuinely easy to get on and off in everyday clothes, which is part of why it suits unhurried city journeys: the school gates, the shops, the commute you are in no rush to finish. It is also a natural fit for anyone sharing a bike between two riders, since the low frame and quick saddle adjustment make swapping between them painless. It is a bike that matters to the people who choose it — and tends to be the one they end up showing off to friends.

Build & technology

The frame bag houses the 545Wh battery cleanly, keeping the traditional silhouette intact — and the battery lifts out for charging away from the bike, which matters if you store it somewhere without a socket. The Bosch Performance Line motor delivers confident city assistance with 75Nm of torque: plenty for London’s bridges and a fully laden basket, without the surplus you would never use on a relaxed city bike. The Silent variant pairs a Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gear with a Gates carbon belt drive — no oil, no chain to slacken, and a far longer service interval than a derailleur, which suits a bike you simply want to ride. A suspension fork and a suspension seatpost take the sting out of cobbles, tram lines and dropped kerbs without softening the bike’s composure, and the upright Dutch geometry keeps your head up and your weight off your wrists on longer rides. Mudguards, a rear rack, integrated lights and a frame lock are all fitted as standard, so it arrives ready for everyday use rather than needing a list of extras. Bosch Smart System connectivity — the eBike Flow app, over-the-air updates and eBike Lock — keeps it current and protected long after you ride it home.

FAQs

The Bosch Performance Line motor, 545Wh battery and Shimano Nexus 8-speed with belt drive make it a capable and low-maintenance daily bike. The aesthetic is considered, but it is not fragile or impractical. R&M builds everything to the same quality standard.

The battery is housed inside the frame bag — integrated into the design rather than visible on the frame. This is what gives the bike a clean, traditional look. It can also be removed for charging away from the bike. The bag provides useful everyday storage too.
