Gazelle Cabby C380

The Gazelle Cabby C380 is a Dutch longtail cargo e-bike built to carry children and luggage in place of a car. An extended rear carrier with four MIK quick-fit points takes up to two children and the day’s load, on a sturdy low step-through frame with a strong Bosch Performance Line CX motor, a stepless Enviolo Heavy Duty hub and a Gates carbon belt. It rides and parks much like a normal e-bike. Built by Royal Dutch Gazelle and sold at Flying Dutchman in London.

One bike instead of the car

The Cabby is Gazelle’s first longtail, named Cargo Bike of the Year 2025 in the Netherlands: a cargo bike that carries children, shopping and bags but rides and handles much like an ordinary e-bike. The extended rear carrier has four MIK HD fixing points, so you can click on two child seats in a row, swap them for cushions as children grow, or fit boxes, baskets and bags — and add an optional front carrier for more. It’s rated for up to 200 kg all in, and a sturdy centred double kickstand holds it steady while you load up at the kerb.

Who it’s for

The Cabby suits families who want to do the school run, the shopping and the day’s errands without a car, and anyone who needs to move bulky loads across the city. It carries up to two children plus luggage, with a large cargo bag that splits into two — one side for little legs, one for groceries and bags — and 34-litre side pockets for the rest. A covered rear wheel and footboards keep small feet safe, and an optional Safety Bar secures children and cargo together.

Build and technology

A Bosch Performance Line CX motor gives 85 Nm of torque, enough to move a fully loaded bike and climb hills without strain, with a mid-mounted battery you choose at 400, 545 or 800 Wh and can click out to charge indoors. Gears are a stepless Enviolo Heavy Duty hub paired with a Gates carbon belt: smooth to change even at a standstill, quiet, oil-free and low-maintenance. Mixed 26-inch front and 24-inch rear wheels keep the load low and stable, an air-sprung suspension fork smooths broken tarmac and dropped kerbs, and four-piston hydraulic disc brakes give confident stopping under load. Gazelle Connect GPS tracking is built in.
