The UBN Five is R&M's lightweight urban commuter — a diamond-frame city e-bike built around the Fazua Ride 60 drive system, with the motor and battery integrated into the frame so cleanly that the bike barely looks electric. Starting from 18.5kg in the Singlespeed variant, it is one of the lightest fully equipped premium e-bikes R&M make. GPS tracking, digital motion alarm, and integrated Supernova lighting come as standard. It is available in five variants, including the Commute with drop bars and gravel tyres for anyone who wants to cover more than just short urban distances.

Build & technology

The Fazua Ride 60 delivers 60Nm of torque — enough for confident urban riding without the weight penalty of larger drive systems. The 480Wh battery sits within the down tube and can be charged in place or removed for charging away from the bike. The integrated RX Chip connects via the RX Connect app — GPS location, digital motion alarm and automatic ride recording are all standard. Supernova Mini2 lighting is fitted across all variants. Available in five variants: Singlespeed (from 18.5kg, belt drive), Touring (Shimano Deore 11-speed), Silent (Shimano Alfine 8-speed, belt drive), Vario (Enviolo continuous hub, belt drive), and Commute (drop bar, Shimano GRX 11-speed, Schwalbe G-One gravel tyres). Suspension fork available as an option across all variants. Three frame sizes: 45, 51, and 57cm.

FAQs

The UBN Five has a classic diamond frame — the conventional top tube that requires swinging a leg over. The UBN Seven has a lowered top tube, making it easier to mount and dismount. Both use the same Fazua Ride 60 drive, weigh the same from the same starting point, and are available in the same Touring, Silent and Vario variants. The choice is primarily about frame shape and mounting preference.

The Fazua Ride 60 is a German-made drive system integrated fully into the frame, with 60Nm of torque and a 480Wh removable battery. It is lighter and quieter than the Bosch Performance Line systems used on most R&M models, with a more natural ride feel at lower assistance levels. It suits people who want a lighter bike and a less intrusive motor. The Bosch system offers more torque and a wider accessory ecosystem. Both are excellent — the right choice depends on how you ride. The RX Chip is integrated into all UBN models as standard. Connected via the RX Connect app, it tracks the bike's location via GPS, records rides automatically and activates a digital motion alarm. The first year of ConnectRide service is included free, covering theft tracking and ride statistics. It is one of the more considered anti-theft systems fitted as standard on any production e-bike.
