The Muli Muskel is a compact, acoustic cargo bike — the original Muli, and the lightest. It carries children, shopping, a dog or boxes in a folding front basket, then folds flat to about 28 cm wide to fit hallways, bike racks and trains, so it works as a city bike and a cargo bike in one. At around 27 kg, with a chromoly steel frame handmade in Germany, it’s built to be lifted up a step and ridden every day. Made by Muli and sold at Flying Dutchman in London.

Cargo when you need it, compact when you don’t

Pull the blue handle and the Muli’s front basket opens to carry around 90 litres or up to 70 kg — children, the weekly shop, a dog or boxes. Fold it back up and the bike narrows to about 28 cm, no wider than a normal bike, so it fits through doorways, into a hallway and onto trains and bike racks. The whole bike is only marginally longer than an ordinary bicycle, with the load carried low and central for stable, familiar handling. Without a motor it stays light, simple and quiet, well suited to flatter city routes and everyday neighbourhood journeys.

The Muskel suits people who want a cargo bike for everyday neighbourhood journeys — the school run, the shops, the park — on flatter routes where a motor isn’t essential, and who value simplicity. It’s the lightest Muli and the easiest to lift up a step or onto a train, so it works well for people in flats and terraced houses with little storage. Built simply, made to last

The Muskel keeps things deliberately simple: no motor, no battery, nothing to charge or update, just a well-made steel bike powered by you. The chromoly steel frame is made and powder-coated in Germany and protected from the inside against rust, with cables routed internally for a clean look. At around 27 kg it’s light for a cargo bike, the folding basket carries roughly 90 litres or up to 70 kg, a simple chain guard keeps your trousers clean, and the frame is belt-drive compatible if you’d prefer.
