Moustache Lundi 27.3

The Lundi 27.3 is the bike Moustache built its name on: a low step-over city frame with a high-rise handlebar that sits you upright, eyes on the traffic rather than the tarmac. The Bosch Performance Line motor delivers up to 75 Nm through a Shimano Deore 10-speed drivetrain, with a 500 Wh PowerTube battery locked inside the frame. Wide Schwalbe tyres take kerbs and tram tracks in their stride, the lights run from the main battery, and the rear rack carries child seats, panniers or a crate on its MIK HD platform. One frame size covers most riders. This is our last Lundi 27.3 — Midnight Blue, ready to ride from our Hackney shop.

The Lundi with more in reserve

The 27.3 pairs the Lundi's famously easy manners with Bosch's Performance Line motor — up to 75 Nm of assistance, delivered smoothly through gears you already know how to use. The Shimano Deore derailleur shifts like an ordinary bike, so there is nothing new to learn; there is simply more help behind every pedal stroke when the road rises or the wind turns against you.

The low step-over frame means you walk straight through it, and the upright Moustache handlebar keeps your head up and your view clear. It is the Lundi for riders whose city has hills in it.

Built for everyday London

The frame is Moustache's hydroformed 6061 alloy, with the Bosch PowerTube 500 Wh battery locked low into the down tube — lockable, removable, and charged on or off the bike. The motor runs the Bosch Smart System, with a Kiox 300 colour display and LED remote on the bars, quieter assistance and the eBike Flow app if you want it — and nothing to fuss over if you don't.

Hydraulic disc brakes handle the stopping, the lights run from the main battery so they are always with you, and the rear carrier takes child seats, panniers or a crate on its MIK HD platform with QL3 side fittings. Wide Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres round off kerbs, cobbles and tram tracks.

Power you will actually use

Seventy-five newton metres sounds abstract until the lights change on a hill. The Performance Line motor is what turns a loaded rack, a headwind or a long drag up from the river into something you barely register — assistance that arrives the moment you press on the pedals, then fades politely when you don't need it.

The ten Deore gears give you a wide, honest range: low enough to spin up the steep bits, high enough to keep rolling on the flat. If you have ridden any ordinary bike, you already know how this one works.

Which Lundi 27 is right for you?

The Lundi shares one frame across the range, so the choice comes down to motor and gears. The 27 ES is the gentlest — a soft Active Line Plus motor for steady, flatter riding. The 27.3 here keeps the simple derailleur but steps up to the full 75 Nm Performance Line motor, which is the difference you feel on hills and under load. The 27.4 pairs that same strong motor with a Shimano hub gear you can shift at a standstill. Short and level: the ES. Hills with familiar gears: this one. Stop-start traffic and shifting while stopped: the 27.4. Not sure? Come and ride them back to back.

At Flying Dutchman

We ride these bikes ourselves, in all weathers, so the advice comes from the saddle rather than a spec sheet. We will set the 27.3 up for your height, show you what the Smart System does and does not ask of you, and let you take it out on real roads before you decide. This one lives at our Hackney shop — come and see it, and have a look at the wider Moustache range while you are here.

FAQs

What is the difference between the Lundi 27.3 and the 27.4?

Both run Bosch's 75 Nm Performance Line motor on the same frame. The difference is the gears: the 27.3 uses a Shimano Deore derailleur — you shift while pedalling, like an ordinary bike — while the 27.4 uses a hub gear you can change at a standstill. Riders who like familiar, mechanical simplicity tend to choose the 27.3.

Is the Lundi 27.3 good for hills?

Yes — this is the reason to choose it over the gentler 27 ES. The Performance Line motor's 75 Nm is Bosch's full-strength city assistance, and the ten-speed Deore cassette gives you low gears to spin up anything London puts in your way, loaded rack included.

Can the Lundi 27.3 carry a child seat?

Yes. The rear carrier is rated to 27 kg and uses the MIK HD platform with QL3 side fittings, so compatible child seats click straight on without adaptors — as do panniers, baskets and crates. Bring your seat in and we will fit it before you ride away.

Is one frame size really enough?

For most riders, yes. The low step-over frame comes in a single size with a generous range of saddle and bar adjustment, and the upright position is forgiving of different heights. The honest answer is to sit on it: we will set it up for you in the shop and you will know within a minute.
