Moustache J ON

The J ON is Moustache’s design-led city e-bike: a full-suspension step-through built to make everyday riding effortless. Front and rear suspension smooth the road, a stepless Enviolo hub and a clean Gates belt mean there are no gears to click through and almost nothing to maintain, and a Bosch motor gives a natural, quiet boost.

It’s a properly connected bike, too. The Bosch Smart System brings app connectivity, a colour Kiox display and on-screen navigation, and a built-in GPS tracker comes as standard — so you can find the bike from your phone, security that’s usually a paid extra.

It comes fully equipped for daily use, with lights, mudguards, a rack and a dropper post. You’ll find it in our London shops in Camden, Notting Hill and Hackney, and we can order custom colours and specs.

A design-led, full-suspension city e-bike

The J is Moustache’s design-led city bike — a clean-lined, cast-frame step-through whose design won a Gold iF Design Award. The J ON is the on-road version, set up for the city and the smoother lanes beyond it.

What makes it special is how little it asks of you. Full suspension takes care of the road, a stepless Enviolo hub means there are no gears to choose, the belt drive needs no oiling, and the Bosch system handles navigation and security. It’s a bike designed to be ridden every day and thought about as little as possible.

An effortless bike to leave the car for

It’s for people who want a city bike that simply works — a car replacement for the commute, the errands and the weekend spin, with as little faff as possible. If you’d rather not change gear, clean a chain or worry about where you left the bike, the J takes all of that off your plate.

The low step-through frame and upright position make it easy and relaxed to ride in any clothes, the rack takes panniers or a basket, and a dropper post lets you put a foot down comfortably at the lights.

Full suspension, stepless gears and Bosch power

Comfort comes from full suspension: an SR Suntour fork with 100 mm of travel up front, and Moustache’s Magic Grip Control air shock at the rear, tuned to the frame so it stays smooth and composed over cobbles, kerbs and broken tarmac.

The drivetrain is the easy part: an Enviolo stepless hub that glides through its range with no fixed gears — just twist to find the effort you want — paired with a Gates carbon belt that runs clean and quiet and needs no maintenance. A Bosch Performance Line motor (75 Nm) and a 625 Wh battery drive it, with a colour Kiox 500 display and the option of Bosch’s PowerMore extender for longer days.

It’s finished for everyday use with integrated lights, full mudguards, a rack, a kickstand, a dropper post and Bosch’s ConnectModule GPS tracker as standard.

The J ON or the Mardi FS?

The J ON and the Mardi FS are both full-suspension city bikes at a similar price, so it’s worth knowing how they differ. The J is the design-led option: a stepless Enviolo hub with nothing to click through, a colour display, GPS tracking as standard, and a distinctive cast frame. It’s the one to choose if you want the bike to do the thinking, and to make a statement doing it.

The Mardi FS is the more understated, simpler choice: a five-speed hub, a more classic look and a little less money. If you value the design and the stepless, connected experience, it’s the J; if you want straightforward full-suspension comfort, it’s the Mardi FS.

Where to test ride the J ON in London

You can usually find the J ON to try in store, and we’re happy to order custom colours and specs. Every Moustache comes with a five-year frame and fork warranty and a two-year Bosch warranty on the motor and battery.

As a Bosch quality partner, we set every bike up properly before you ride away, include a free first service at 500 km, and can recommend Laka if you’d like insurance cover. We’re also a Cycle to Work retailer, so you can buy through your employer’s scheme and save on tax.

There’s nothing to index or maintain, and paired with the belt drive it makes for a very quiet, low-effort ride. It’s ideal if you’d rather not think about gears at all.

It’s genuinely cushioned: full suspension front and rear, with Moustache’s Magic Grip Control shock, soaks up cobbles, kerbs and broken tarmac, and the wide Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres add to that. The dropper post also lets you drop the saddle for an easy, confident foot-down at the lights. It’s set up for comfort on the road rather than off-road trails.

Yes — Bosch’s ConnectModule comes as standard, which adds GPS tracking and a motion alarm through the eBike Flow app, so you can locate the bike from your phone. That’s usually a paid extra on other bikes. The Bosch system also includes eBike Lock, which stops the motor assisting until you unlock the bike. After an initial free period, Bosch’s tracking subscription is a small annual fee.
