The DX is the lock most people end up carrying, because it is a little over a kilogram and it clips to a belt, a bag strap or a jersey pocket rather than needing a bracket or a rucksack. Hiplok call the system CLIP + RIDE; in practice it means the lock goes with you without being a decision every morning.

The security is not the compromise you might expect for the weight. A 14mm hardened steel shackle, anti-rotation double locking tabs — so a thief has to make two cuts, not one — and an anti-pick cylinder earn it a Sold Secure Pedal Cycle Diamond and Powered Cycle Gold rating. The 85 x 150mm locking area is deliberately snug, which leaves little room for a lever.
