The Dutch venerate the colour orange, and so you have to take them pretty seriously when they decide to give this name to something they make. Gazelle’s Orange series is based around the simple idea that a good city bike should be built well, and enjoyable to ride; comfort, efficiency, utility, reliability, styling, and high quality components all come together to make the Orange C8 a real jewel in the crown of Royal Dutch Gazelle.
The Nexus 8-speed hub gears provide the optimum range for city riding, allowing you to conquer hills and get up to speed when you want to feel the wind. What goes fast must slow down, and so the Orange C8 has upgraded braking over models lower down the range. Upgraded brakes provide more stopping power, but also longer-lasting brake units.
Comfort is key to the success of the Orange C8, and this is handled by head tube suspension, ergonomic hand grips, fat tyres, and a very agreeable saddle. Safety is also important, and for 2019 the Orange got a new integrated headlamp, offering fantastic visibility at night. Alongside the reflective side-walls on the tyres, the Orange C8 glows like a Christmas tree at night.
It’s difficult to over-emphasise the ride quality of this bike, and you really need to try it for yourself to see what all the fuss is about!
